Israeli Woodturners, Good News!

We represent the finest names of woodturning equipment and supplies here in Israel such as Hamlet, Henry Taylor, Jet, Mylands, Sorby, Starbond,Tormek, Vicmarc, Wivamac and now....

These are the highest quality turning tools on the market today, each one handcrafted in a 13 step process.
To keep the quality high and price low it will continue like it is... each handcrafted by Doug Thompson... one at a time.

Robert Sorby

Below are some of the new tool products that have arrived

Revolving centres

The Sovereign Ultima Hollowing System is the latest product from the Robert Sorby factory in Sheffield.

It forms part of the Sovereign System but is also a stand-alone tool in its own right. Available in two sizes it enables woodturners to produce hollow forms up to 11" (275mm) with the small version and up to 16" (400mm) with the medium in both wet and dry woods. It has a cutter system that slices through the wood rather than scraping and the clever design allows the shavings to clear without clogging. It is equally effective on bowl grain work as well as end-grain projects. The cutter is able to make light or heavy cuts and the unique micro adjust feature enables the turner to set the cutter depth with ease.

Sandmaster

ProEdge is a revolutionary sharpening system introduced by Robert Sorby. In fact, the concept is far from new as the ProEdge largely replicates the tool sharpening system which has evolved in the Robert Sorby factory over many, many years. This compact system is now available to woodworkers whether operating in a large workshop or small shed.

The new Patriot lathe chuck is the latest new product from Robert Sorby. It comes after many years of experience in selling, marketing and distributing another chuck. Hence the design incorporates all the key features which turners look for in a scroll chuck:
- compact design which does not strain lathe bearings yet is ideal for all sizes of project
- inserted system so there is a size to fit almost every lathe
- all jaws are perfectly matched so there is no need for tiresome number matching
- the single key operation with positive location requires only the lightest of touches
- key is articulated to allow access behind large projects
- true compression angles on drive and driven gear ensure smooth operation every time
- jaws stops prevent slides from working loose
- wide selection of useful jaws give additional versatility
- jaws dovetailed on inside and outside face
- additional serrated teeth on jaws give extra grip (see below)
- enclosed back protects gearing against dust
- backplate is removable for easy maintenance and cleaning
- comes complete with 2" jaws and woodscrew
- English instruction manual supplied

As we were starting with a clean sheet of paper, there were no compromises in the design of this new chuck. These chucks are all made in Sheffield, England and come with unrivalled Robert Sorby after-sales service.

We are the Israel representative for Woodturning Design. The Summer 2011 issue has arrived and is available. Subscriptions are available as well as past issues.
